But I'm guessing the Tascam 424 needs something like the Behringer's pres for this? Or a DI? (Another example where I get confused with how the pres are necessary or not for this.)īasically, can I use the Alesis AI3 since it's a little cheaper and has analog line outs (say incase I ever wanted to chain them to other fx easier w/o XLR cables) or would you say it's not worth it/the quality will suck too much/or it simply won't be loud enough, and just go for the Behringer ADA8200? Sorry this is a bit long and rambling but I don't know how else to condense this. With that analog multiplier, I could take the Twin's analog outs, convert them to unbalanced outs (RCA) that go into the Tascam's unbalanced ins (RCA), out the Tascam via its outs (RCA) into the ADAT expander (via 1/4")? Just seeing if I can use the Tascam this way to record some lofi cassette recordings out from my DAW and back into it. Kinda side question here, but I have laying around a Tascam 424 Portastudio tape recorder. Eventually I'd like to add-on maybe an Apollo firewire to have more ins/outs but am seeing if I can use this alternative for now. To plug my Main OUTS of my Apollo Twin USB into this multiplier, which I could feed separately into the INS of the Microverb 4 and SDE-1000 fx, then send their outs to the ADAT expander, which thus goes into the Apollo Twin, correct? I realize I'm limited by the Twin's L/R main outs here and would need to Solo stuff one by one if I wanted to use the FX on separate tracks, but that's fine now for the time being. I could hypothetically use this analog stereo output multiplier here: From what I've read, I don't need preamps in order to plug my hardware synths and hardware FX into the ADAT expander that then plugs into my Apollo Twin, correct? The lines should be loud enough? BTW, I'm only recording this with lo-fi purposes, so I don't mind if the Alesis Ai3 only has 48khz max output, or if the Alesis even sounds a bit low quality/dull in general. However I like the fact the inputs and outputs are both 1/4" balanced lines. I noticed online I can buy an Alesis Ai-3 ADAT expander used for probably between $150-200 (here's more info on the device: ), but it seems to not have preamps. I want it obviously just for synths and FX usage to all be plugged into my computer at once. I only record singer/songwriter stuff involving 1 mic, so I don't need the expander to, say, record a bunch of mics on a drumkit. I am only going to use the ADAT expander for a few synths (Yamaha TX81z, Moog Mother) and hardware FX (Alesis Microverb 4, Roland SDE-1000). However, I notice this has preamps attached to it, with XLR outputs. I see one of the most popular low-budget ADAT expanders ($300ish or less) is the Behringer ADA8200. I now own a couple pieces of hardware, so I'd like to get an ADAT expander to have more inputs, so I don't have to constantly be unplugging/re-plugging the hardware as I record. I've been researching quite a bit on my own before I resorted to asking, but I'm still a little confused. Now that I'm expanding into hardware territory I'm hoping someone can help me. If needed let me know if i can help in any way.Sorry this may come across as completely noob-worthy.been recording audio at home for years, however it has always been ITB.

Start the app, enter your credentials, then you will find the software in My Products in your Avid account. You will need an Avid account to download the PC/Mac software you need.

(funny enough here it works better with Premiere and Audition than with Avid's Media Composer.) And meanwhile i have learned to customize it pretty well for my needs.

It works great with Premiere 2020 (not with 2019) here on PC even in the standard configuration, and has a ton of additional features compared to standard midi devices.

Have a look at Avid's free software Avid Control for Android or iOS ( ) try it out with your mobile, if you don't have a tablet yet, get yourself a (cheap) tablet (mine was 150€), and there you go. They were so loud, that's why i started to look out for other solutions.

I have used Behringer BCF2000 and Icon IControlS Pro before, good devices, but they live on a shelf now. And it takes one square meter on your desk, doesn't it? What protocol was it? Some specific Avid thing, if i remember right.
